2019 Artist in Residence Beril Or and Calum Craik

Our little community is expanding. Can’t wait to have two awesome artists, Beril Or and Calum Craik, join us this year all the way from California. I’m super thankful that they both donated artworks for our 2019 fundraiser.

Calum Craik donated this beautiful publication, which is a collaboration between himself and New York based artist, Liam Allan.

The writing and photography is by Calum and the publication was put together by Liam. In 2018, Calum handed the publication to train commuters in San Francisco and Liam handed the publication to train commuters in New York City.

Beril just got back to the Bay Area from visiting family in Turkey. In her suitcase, she brought us three plaster sheep for the fundraiser.

Or’s “Sheep Series” was inspired by her interest in human nature. It is meant to highlight the notion that people from varying cultures, religions, and nationalities have extraordinary differences and similarities.
